The Weight Issue (3)

The Treadmill:
For quite a while I have been thinking
I need to get heart-healthy. But I don't have time to spend running at a gym,
or even outside my house for that matter. During the day time, I have to be
100% accessible to my kids. They are homeschooled, and I am their teacher. I am
also a student myself (Business major) and have little or no time to do much of
anything for myself.
So I
finally took a leap, and bought a treadmill. This is the exact model that I
bought. I imagined myself jogging on it and watching all the extra pounds melt
away. Last month alone, I ran over 59 miles!! This apparatus has probably saved
my life, and I love the fact that I can run (walk, jog, etc) any time of day or
night I want, but I didn't lose any weight.
Now, I'm not asking to lose a lot, just
a few pounds (10 lbs). So why did I gain weight while using
the treadmill? I have been eating much healthier and drinking tons of water (80
ounces or so every day). Since using the treadmill, I've gained 4
pounds!!! Now I have 14 pounds to lose... :(
At first I thought, well it's just
muscle gain-- I should still be able to fit into my old clothes: not!!!
Everything is tight! I have run on that treadmill for 2 or more miles, six days
a week, for over a month! I heard that when you build muscle it takes a little
time before your muscles are no longer swollen. The only muscles I think I
built are foot-muscles! I'd add more time to the treadmill but my feet are
incredibly sore. Makes me wish I had a stationary-bike instead.
So now what?
