There are times when Kate can't breathe because she is suffocating herself with so much emotional pain. She knows that this hurts the people she cares most about.
So all day today, she tried to think of something that would help get her through the holidays without hurting anyone..... she thought and she thought, and finally determined that:
If Kate stays emotionally distant from everybody, she can't hurt them.
She does not want to hurt anybody. She would rather hurt alone, than hurt the people she loves.
