What is Your Color? (July 2010)

From July 27, 2010

What can I say that will inspire someone to reach out and make a difference in someone else's life?  Nothing: the decision is yours. Ultimately, it is up to you.   Reach out with an act of kindness.

YELLOW: a color that lies between orange and green on the visible spectrum, e.g. that of butter or ripe lemons. It is one of the three primary colors of pigment. Yellow is also one of the three primary colors used in printing and photographic processing. (Encarta Dictionary, © 2003)

Have you ever thought about what would happen without yellow? The sky would no longer appear so bright and our grass would be shades of blue. Fields of flowers would appear dull and our vegetable gardens would no longer look edible with only shades of red and blue. Blue is a nice color, but it is subdued. Yellow is “the color that gives life to all of the other colors.”

If you could be a color, what would you be?  Each of us is a color, and without one of us, our rainbow is no longer the same: it isn't as bright, it isn't as colorful. If we allow our color to fade, the tones of the others won't as bright as they should be.

With age, I have learned that you may never know your effect on another, whether for good or for bad. But when you reach out with acts of kindness, the colors change: they brighten, they glow, they become right again. Change your demeanor today. You know the old saying: The best way to head off a frown is with a smile.
